Geology

The core of the Geology and Mineral Resource Department is geological interpretation and Mineral Resource evaluation modelling, which are compliant with the various global Mineral Resource Reporting Codes. The Department has extensive skills in both the geostatistical and geological modelling disciplines, across a number of styles of ore bodies, and across numerous commodities and materials.

The ability to provide services and advice from the project inception stage, through the listing period, all the way to production and mine closure makes Minxcon an exceptionally diversified advisory company.

The skills base facilitates the analysis of exploration results including acquisition and validation, sedimentological analysis, Mineral Resource auditing, Competent Persons sign-off and 3D ore-body modelling and analysis. The Department specialises in creating customised software solutions pertaining to the core aspects of the Mineral Resource discipline.

Charles Muller - Geologist
B.Sc Hons. (Geology)
Charles has a wealth of knowledge in the field of geology and mineral resource evaluation and fulfills Minxcon's criterion to employ skills with exceptional ability and extensive experience. Charles is an expert in data processing, ore-body modelling and mineral resource evaluation using Datamine ™, as well as the other major computer packages aimed at the minerals industry. During his 25 years in the mining industry, he has gained extensive experience in the fields of sedimentology, gold exploration and target generation of gold, platinum, diamonds, coal and base metal projects. His skills in software development, customizing data systems and integration of databases are widely recognised in the mining industry. Charles has been involved with the modelling and geostatistical evaluation of various ore-bodies across the globe. He has presented papers on ore resource evaluation at international venues and has a number of publications to his credit.

Geology Team

Heather King - Senior Resource Geologist
M.Sc. (Econ. Geol.) G.D.Eng
Heather completed her Masters Degree thesis on the chromitite seams of the Western Limb of the Bushveld Igneous Complex. Thereafter she joined the gold mining industry and worked initially as a Mine Geologist and then as a Mineral Resource Geologist on a number of operations on the Witwatersrand Goldfields. During her 10 years of working in the mining industry, Heather has gained extensive experience in the field of evaluating tabular gold ore bodies as well as target generation. Heather is a senior member of the Minxcon team, and is involved primarily in the modelling and geostatistical evaluation of various ore-bodies. Heather is efficient in data processing, ore-body modelling and Mineral Resource evaluation using Datamine ™.
 
Linert Mavengere - Resource Geologist
B.Sc Hons. (Geology)
Linert has 7 years working in the mining industry with most of her experience having been gained in the open pit gold mining environment. Linert has had experience in resource modelling using Datamine while working in the Zimbabwe Open pit and Underground gold mining environments. She underwent 2year leanership with Anglo Gold Zimbabwe and has also worked for Rio Tinto and Metallon Gold. She has worked in the capacity of mine geologist, exploration Geologist and Computer geologist. She is currently involved in Geostatistical evaluation of resource information, Resource Estimation and Block Modeling.
 
Quintin Antunes - Geologist
B.Sc Hons. (Geology)

Quintin has spent 4 years working in the mining and minerals industry and has gained experience in mining and exploration on a variety of minerals in South America, South Africa, as well as other African countries. As a graduate, Quintin spent time working as a geologist on exploration projects on a variety of commodities including, but not limited to, alluvial diamonds, iron ore, gold and copper in the Thabazimbi (South Africa), Guyanna (South America) and Tete (Mozambique) areas. At end of 2005 Quintin moved to the Platinum mines in Rustenburg where he worked as a sectional geologist and later acted as a shaft geologist. In 2007, Quintin moved to the consulting industry where he has been involved with Mineral Resource and Reserve upgrades and statements.

 
Clinton Birch - Resource Geologist
B.Sc Hons. (Geology)
Clinton Birch has completed the National Higher Diploma in Economic Geology as well as a BSc (Honours) in Geology. He also has a Certificate in Business Leadership from Wits Business School and is currently busy with a Masters in Mineral Resource Management. Clinton has extensive experience in Gold Ore Reserve Management and was the Ore Reserve Manager at Harmony Unisel, Brand and St Helena Gold Mines in the Free State Goldfields before joining Minxcon in March 2008. He has also worked as a geologist on platinum, base metals and in gold exploration.
 
Yomeshka Moodley - Resource Geologist
B.Sc Hons. (Geology)
Yomeshka began as a bursar at Samancor Chrome where she did geological data capture during her vacation work. She graduated with her B.Sc. (Hons) in Geology from Wits in 2006 and began working at Samancor Chrome as a Graduate Geologist and then Mineral Resource Specialist. Yomeshka has experience in underground geology, geological database management , mineral resource estimation and management of infill drilling.

Yomeshka currently works at Minxcon where she does data compilation, geological modeling and mineral resource estimation.
