In 2025, Minxcon proudly marks 20 years of delivering excellence in mining consulting. Since its founding in 2005, Minxcon has grown from humble beginnings into one of South Africa’s leading mining consultancy firms — with a footprint that now spans the globe. This milestone offers a moment to reflect on two decades of milestones, achievements, and partnerships that have shaped Minxcon’s remarkable journey.

The Humble Beginnings (2005–2006)

Minxcon’s story began in 2005 with just two founders and their spouses — a close-knit team that celebrated its very first year-end function together. That same year, Minxcon secured its first major project: preparing an independent valuation report for Simmer and Jack Mines Limited.

By 2006, Minxcon had already reached a significant milestone, acting as the Competent Person for the listing of Pamodzi Gold Limited on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange. Later that year, the team undertook its first Prefeasibility Study (PFS) for Boynton Investments, which held promising platinum assets in the Bushveld Complex.

A Growing Legacy in Exploration, Feasibility & Valuation

Minxcon’s services expanded rapidly over the years. In 2008, the company embarked on its first exploration and metallurgical projects. And, more recently, environmental services have been added to its offering — a reflection of the company’s commitment to holistic, sustainable mining practices.

From gold in Mpumalanga to copper in Namibia and diamonds in Lesotho, Minxcon has completed high-quality Competent Persons Reports (CPRs), resource estimations, PFS’s, and Definitive Feasibility Studies (DFSs) for a wide variety of commodities and clients.

Building Global Reach and Lasting Relationships

From its South African roots in Gauteng, Northwest, and Mpumalanga, Minxcon has expanded its reach across Africa, Asia, Madagascar, the Middle East, and the Americas.

What truly sets Minxcon apart, however, is the longevity of its client relationships. Companies like Transvaal Gold Mining Estates (TGME) and Blyvoor Gold (Pty) Ltd have trusted Minxcon for nearly two decades. From early exploration at Pilgrims Rest in 2008 to the recommissioning of Blyvoor Gold in 2021 and a DFS for Frankfort Gold Mine in 2023 — these long-term partnerships speak volumes about Minxcon’s reliability and quality.

Resilience Through Adversity

Like many businesses, Minxcon faced unprecedented challenges during the COVID-19 pandemic. But through resilience, teamwork, and adaptability, the company successfully pivoted to remote service delivery, maintaining continuity and client satisfaction.

This adaptability has paid off and Minxcon has continued to show consistent growth and strong performance.

Major Projects and Proud Moments

Among the many standout projects in recent years:

• Kombat Mine (Namibia) – In 2023, Minxcon completed both a PFS and DFS for the mine’s recommissioning.
• Lesotho Diamond Operations – Ongoing detailed monthly planning was conducted for a major diamond project.
• Southern Palladium’s Bengwenyama Project – Following its listing in 2022, the company engaged Minxcon to carry out a comprehensive exploration program and PFS, delivered on time and within budget.

Minxcon has also played a crucial role in revitalising dormant mines, transforming them into successful operations through geological modelling, data capture, exploration, and feasibility studies.

Securing the Future: Succession and Sustainability

As Minxcon celebrates two decades of achievement, its gaze is firmly set on the future. A succession plan is already in place, with a dedicated middle management EXCO team being mentored to lead the next chapter. With this strong foundation and future-focused leadership, Minxcon is ready for the next 20 years — and beyond.
